Types of Therapy

Individual Therapy

I work with adults in weekly or bi-monthly sessions to address a variety of presenting concerns. Sometimes people enter therapy to address symptoms related to a diagnosis such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Other people tend to seek out therapy to address challenges they are facing in different domains of their life, to process stress or grief from earlier life experiences and often to learn new skills to improve how they are navigating their life. No matter what your reasons for entering therapy, you will find the process welcoming and flexible. My style is narrative-based and approachable. I rarely use formal assessments and never share 'worksheets as homework.' I love to offer clients a menu of resources and modalities we can use to investigate your story and create healing.

I accept the following insurances for services: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Medicare, Beacon Health, Priority Health, some Medicaid Plans

Couples Therapy

I work with all different types of couples. Relationships are beautifully complex and part of the initial work in therapy is identifying how intersectional identities play a role in the functioning of the relationship. Where we come from, how we identify ourselves, how we tell our story influences the way we will build a story with the others that we love. Couples therapy requires investment of time, patience, vulnerability and energy. In holding the responsibility to help you heal and grow your relationship, I need your permission to help you approach conversations and experiences in new ways. The space of therapy is sometimes a place of discomfort that leads to growth. My work with couples is influenced by many sources that include, Gottman Approach, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems.

Some insurances allow family therapy claims and I can try to process claims to your insurance (BCBS, BCN, Beacon Health, Priority Health, Medicare, some Medicaid Plans

Couples and Individuals Therapy Intensives

The term 'intensives' has been used fairly often in areas of care that focus on trauma processing. Intensives serve as a deep-dive into difficult content. Often this content is related to trauma and the deep-dive is a form of trauma processing. I believe that the deep-dive can also be related to attachment experiences, identity and relational experiences as well. I use a menu of assessments and interventions to deliver therapy intensives tailored to the needs of the individual or couple.

Intensives work to focus on large chunks of time that allow us to unpack significant emotional experiences, process and experience new interventions without the frustration of the 'hours up' of traditional therapy.

Intensives meet: (1) 4-hour assessment (3) 6-hour sessions 1-per-month for 3 months and (3) 1-hour check-ins 1-per-month for 3 months.

Intensives cannot be billed to insurance.
